Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ on Sunday at 11 a.m. through video conferencing, with the aim of encouraging young people to stay away from substance abuse and become agents of positive social change. The initiative is being launched as part of the government’s broader vision of building a drug-free India and strengthening youth participation in nation-building.

According to an official statement, the launch will mark the beginning of a 100-week nationwide Jan Bhagidari campaign focused on creating awareness against substance abuse. As part of the campaign, weekly programmes will be organised every Sunday across the country to encourage public participation and promote collective efforts towards creating a healthier society.

The campaign will include a wide range of activities such as sports events, walkathons, meditation programmes, cultural performances, awareness drives, street plays, discussion forums, art competitions and community engagement initiatives. These activities are designed to involve citizens, especially young people, in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

The initiative aims to bring together educational institutions, youth organisations, civil society groups, industry bodies and spiritual organisations on a common platform. Youth from more than 10,000 locations across the country are expected to participate virtually, including MY Bharat Volunteers, National Service Scheme volunteers, youth clubs, students from schools and colleges, NGOs and representatives of partner organisations.

The campaign is aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” and seeks to contribute towards the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 through active public involvement. Organisers highlighted the message that a drug-free youth population would be a key strength in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.

Through the nationwide movement, the government aims to encourage young citizens to take an active role in preventing substance abuse and promoting responsible lifestyles. The initiative is expected to create greater awareness at the grassroots level by transforming the fight against addiction into a community-driven movement.
