Actor Vinod Suryavanshi, known for his appearance in the web series Panchayat, has spoken out about his personal experiences with caste-based discrimination, shedding light on the persistence of social inequalities in parts of rural India. In a recent interaction, he shared incidents from his childhood that highlight the challenges faced by his family.
Suryavanshi revealed that caste divisions continue to exist in his native village in Karnataka, where communities are segregated based on social hierarchy. He described how Dalit families, including his own, live in a separate area away from upper-caste residents, reflecting entrenched social practices that have continued over generations.
Recalling a childhood incident, the actor said that when he visited a local hotel with his father at the age of 12, they were asked to wash their own plates after eating, despite paying for the meal. He described the experience as humiliating and indicative of the discrimination faced by people from marginalised communities in everyday situations.

He further stated that his family is still not allowed to enter certain temples in the village, pointing to ongoing exclusion from religious spaces. Suryavanshi’s remarks have drawn attention to the broader issue of casteism in India, particularly in rural areas where traditional social structures continue to influence daily life. His account adds to ongoing conversations about equality, dignity, and the need for stronger social reform.
The actor’s statements have resonated with many on social media, with users highlighting the importance of speaking out against discrimination. His experience serves as a reminder of the lived realities of caste-based exclusion and the continuing need for awareness and change in society.
