The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Revenues Control Laboratory (CRCL) on Saturday, aiming to enhance inter-agency coordination and strengthen enforcement mechanisms under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The agreement, formalized in the presence of Special Secretary & Member (Customs), Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), Surjit Bhujabal, and NFSU Vice Chancellor Dr. J M Vyas, marks a significant step toward combating drug-related crimes in India.
The MoU is set to bolster the country’s capacity to investigate and prosecute NDPS Act violations by facilitating the generation of scientifically validated, court-admissible forensic evidence. According to an NFSU statement, the collaboration will enable specialized training programs for forensic professionals and law enforcement personnel, alongside research initiatives to address evolving drug trends.
This partnership aims to empower agencies with cutting-edge forensic tools and expertise, ensuring swift and effective prosecution of drug-related offenses. The initiative underscores a commitment to tackling the growing challenge of narcotics trafficking through enhanced coordination and innovation.
