A case has been registered against the daughter of a Karnataka BJP MLA for allegedly assaulting a woman police sub-inspector who was deployed on special security duty at Arathi Ukkada temple in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district. The alleged incident took place during Bhima Amavasya celebrations on August 12. According to the complaint, the incident occurred at around 8.15 pm inside the temple premises. The police officer, identified as Savitha Patil, is a sub-inspector attached to the Mandya Women's Police Station and was reportedly performing security duties at the temple when the confrontation took place.

The accused has been identified as Aishwarya, daughter of Tumakuru Rural BJP MLA B Suresh Gowda. The complaint alleges that Aishwarya verbally abused the police officer, slapped her and obstructed her from carrying out her official duties. The alleged confrontation reportedly began after Aishwarya arrived at the temple to offer prayers and objected to the delay in being allowed entry for darshan. The disagreement allegedly escalated, resulting in the confrontation with the police officer deployed at the venue.

Following the incident, Savitha Patil approached the police and filed a complaint against Aishwarya. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at Kyathanahalli Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The allegations are now being investigated by the police, who are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and gather evidence from witnesses and other available sources. The complaint specifically alleges both physical assault and obstruction of the officer while she was carrying out her official responsibilities.

The incident has also drawn attention because it involves the daughter of a sitting BJP legislator and allegedly took place while a police officer was deployed for security arrangements during a major religious gathering. Such duties typically involve managing crowds and regulating movement to ensure the safety of visitors. MLA B Suresh Gowda has apologised over the controversy. His response came after the alleged incident involving his daughter generated attention and led to the registration of the police case.

The case will now proceed through the legal process, with investigators responsible for establishing what happened at the temple and determining the circumstances of the alleged assault. The registration of an FIR marks the beginning of the criminal investigation and does not by itself establish guilt. The incident took place during Bhima Amavasya celebrations, when large numbers of devotees traditionally visit temples and other religious sites. Security personnel are deployed at such locations to manage crowds, regulate access and respond to situations that could disrupt public order.

Police are expected to examine the complaint filed by Savitha Patil along with any available evidence from the temple premises. Statements from witnesses and other people present during the alleged confrontation may also form part of the investigation. The allegations against Aishwarya remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings. Authorities will determine the next steps based on the evidence collected in the case registered at Kyathanahalli Police Station.
