A speeding Porsche car crashed into a divider on Mumbai’s Coastal Road on Sunday after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The driver escaped without injuries as the car’s airbags deployed during the collision, preventing a more serious outcome. However, the luxury vehicle suffered extensive damage due to the impact, and traffic movement on the road stretch was temporarily affected.
According to preliminary information, no fatalities have been reported in the accident. Police teams reached the spot shortly after receiving information about the crash and began investigating the circumstances that led to the collision. Officials are examining possible factors, including speed and road conditions, to determine the exact cause of the incident.
The accident caused disruption for commuters using the Coastal Road, one of Mumbai’s key infrastructure projects designed to improve connectivity and reduce travel time across the city. Traffic authorities and emergency personnel worked to manage the situation and clear the affected area following the crash.

The incident comes days after another safety-related event on the same road corridor when a car caught fire inside the Coastal Road tunnel. The blaze, which occurred in the southbound tunnel carrying traffic from Haji Ali towards Worli, created panic among motorists and temporarily brought traffic to a halt. Several vehicles were stranded behind the burning car before emergency teams brought the fire under control.
According to civic officials, the tunnel fire was reported at around 12:25 pm and was extinguished within approximately 20 minutes. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as some motorists abandoned their vehicles and moved away from the area. Authorities have since continued monitoring safety measures on the Coastal Road following the recent incidents.
