A major landslide struck late Sunday night at Mannagudda in Kadaba taluk, severely disrupting traffic on National Highway 75, a key route connecting Mangaluru and Bengaluru, according to officials. The mudslide has prompted authorities to divert traffic to alternative roads to minimize delays for travelers.
Police have rerouted heavy-tonnage vehicles via state highways and smaller vehicles through major district roads. Earthmoving equipment is actively clearing the debris to restore normal traffic flow. However, very heavy vehicles remain detained at the site until the highway is fully cleared, officials confirmed.
The diversions have helped reduce travel time on inner roads, but the disruption continues to impact commuters on this vital corridor. Efforts are underway to expedite the clearance and reopen the highway.
