A fierce fire ripped through a truck terminal in Navi Mumbai’s Turbhe area late Sunday night, triggering multiple explosions and reducing at least eight vehicles to charred wreckage, officials reported. Several of the destroyed trucks were carrying consignments, amplifying the economic impact of the blaze.
The inferno, which erupted around 11 p.m., sent plumes of smoke billowing into the night sky, alarming nearby residents. Firefighting teams rushed to the scene, battling the flames for hours to bring the situation under control. Authorities confirmed no injuries or casualties, a fortunate outcome given the intensity of the fire and the blasts.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have originated from a short circuit, though officials are yet to pinpoint the exact cause. The damaged vehicles included heavy-duty trucks, some loaded with goods, leading to significant losses for transport operators.
