Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Capt. Brijesh Chowta has directed officials of the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) to ensure that the Plastic Park project at Ganjimutt is ready for inauguration by the end of October. He issued the direction while reviewing the progress of Centrally sponsored projects at a District Development Co-ordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting.

Capt. Chowta stressed the need for officials to complete the remaining work within the proposed timeline so that the project can be inaugurated as planned. The Plastic Park at Ganjimutt is expected to provide dedicated infrastructure for plastic-related industries and support industrial activity in the Dakshina Kannada region. The MP sought close monitoring of the project to prevent delays in its completion.

As part of the monitoring process, Capt. Chowta said he would inspect the progress of the Plastic Park during the first week of October. Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan is also expected to accompany him during the inspection. The visit will provide an opportunity to assess the status of the ongoing works and identify any issues that could affect the targeted inauguration schedule.

The MP's direction came during the DISHA meeting, which was convened to review the implementation of various Centrally sponsored schemes and projects in the district. Such reviews are intended to track progress, address implementation-related concerns and ensure that projects are completed within their planned timelines. The Plastic Park was among the projects receiving attention during the meeting.

The Ganjimutt project is considered part of efforts to strengthen industrial infrastructure in Dakshina Kannada and attract investments linked to the plastics sector. Timely completion of the facility could provide businesses with dedicated industrial infrastructure while supporting manufacturing and related activities in the region. Officials have therefore been asked to maintain the pace of work and ensure that the project meets the required standards before inauguration.

The proposed October-end inauguration will depend on the completion of the remaining works and the project's readiness following the inspection. Capt. Chowta's planned visit in the first week of October is expected to provide a clearer assessment of the progress made. The MP has asked KIADB officials to closely monitor the work so that any outstanding issues can be addressed in time for the targeted inauguration.
