The Karnataka government has ordered a reshuffle of senior IPS officers, appointing Bhushan Gulabrao Borase as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Hubballi-Dharwad. The 2009-batch IPS officer was serving as Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi City, before being transferred with immediate effect. Borase will hold the new post until further orders.

N. Shashi Kumar, who was serving as Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner, has been transferred from the post. Borase has been appointed in his place as part of the administrative reshuffle, with the Hubballi-Dharwad commissionerate post upgraded to the DIG level. The government order formally takes effect immediately and does not specify an end date for the new appointments.

Nikam Prakash Amrit, a 2012-batch IPS officer who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi City. He will replace Borase in Belagavi, marking a change in leadership for the city's police commissionerate. The appointment forms part of a wider set of transfers involving senior police officers across Karnataka.

In another change, Harishekaran P., a 1996-batch IPS officer serving as Additional Director General of Police, Crimes and Technical Services, Bengaluru, has been transferred to the post of Additional Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, in an upgraded position. He will replace Umesh Kumar, who has been relieved of the concurrent charge. The reshuffle also affects the state's grievances, human rights and technical services wings.

M. Nanjundaswami, a 1997-batch IPS officer serving as Additional Director General of Police, Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services and SDRF, Bengaluru, has been posted as Additional Director General of Police, Grievances and Human Rights, in an upgraded post. He replaces Devajyoti Ray, a 1999-batch IPS officer, who has been transferred to Additional Director General of Police, Crimes and Technical Services, Bengaluru, in place of Harishekaran.

The government has also transferred Amit Singh, a 2007-batch IPS officer serving as Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru, to the post of Inspector General of Police, Karnataka State Reserve Police, in an upgraded position. R. Chethan, a 2010-batch IPS officer awaiting posting, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru, replacing Singh in the downgraded post. All the transfers and appointments have been ordered with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
