The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, on Tuesday approved a development package of around Rs 41,000 crore aimed at strengthening infrastructure and supporting key sectors of the state economy. The decisions include major allocations for the VB Ram Ji Yojana as well as the dairy and animal husbandry sectors.

Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh said around Rs 29,619 crore has been approved for implementing the VB Ram Ji Yojana. The Cabinet also sanctioned approximately Rs 2,973 crore for milk producers and the dairy sector, including Rs 1,547 crore specifically for increasing processing capacity for different dairy products.

Under the Dairy Development Scheme, the government plans to significantly expand the cooperative milk network across Madhya Pradesh. The number of villages covered by cooperative milk societies is expected to increase from the existing 7,331 to 26,000 over the next five years. The government expects the expansion to strengthen milk procurement and provide greater opportunities for dairy farmers in rural areas.

The state also plans a major increase in milk collection and processing capacity. Daily milk collection is expected to rise from around 1.2 million kilograms to 5.2 million kilograms, while processing capacity will increase from 1.78 million litres to 6.33 million litres per day. Milk packet sales are also planned to rise from around seven lakh litres to 35 lakh litres per day.

Singh said the measures would strengthen the dairy sector and create additional opportunities for milk producers and rural communities. The expansion follows an earlier recommendation by Union Cooperative and Home Minister Amit Shah, who had advised the Madhya Pradesh government to increase milk production and expand the network of milk cooperatives on a mission mode.

The Cabinet decisions are part of the state government's broader development strategy, combining large-scale infrastructure spending with measures aimed at strengthening agriculture and allied sectors. The government expects the dairy expansion and increased processing capacity to improve market access for producers while contributing to rural livelihoods and the state's overall economic development.
