Kashmir’s educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, and coaching centres, remained shuttered for the second day on Thursday due to a worsening flood-like situation caused by relentless rainfall across the valley.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, ordered the closure as a precaution, citing hazardous weather conditions. "The safety of students and staff is our priority," an official spokesperson stated.
While water levels in the Jhelum River and its tributaries began receding Thursday morning, low-lying areas in Anantnag, Budgam, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Shopian districts remain inundated, raising concerns about further damage. Authorities are on high alert as the region braces for potential flooding.
