A Mumbai-based Air India pilot in his 40s died in New Delhi after he was found unconscious at a hotel during a scheduled layover, the airline said. The cockpit crew member was staying at The Grand Hotel in Vasant Kunj when he was found unconscious on the previous evening. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The pilot had been in Delhi as part of his flight duties and was scheduled to operate a flight early the following morning. The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately detailed by the airline. The incident occurred during a layover, when the pilot was staying at the hotel before his next scheduled assignment.

The deceased pilot had previously worked with Air India Express before moving to Air India a couple of months ago. His recent transfer to the airline came shortly before the incident, according to the information provided by Air India. The airline did not disclose further personal details about the crew member.
