Pune police have launched an investigation into sensational allegations made by former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar, who claims a recently employed house help sedated her and her parents before committing theft at their Baner Road bungalow. Khedkar contacted the police late on Saturday night to report the incident, which she says occurred while the family was at home.
According to her account, the domestic worker from Nepal allegedly administered sedatives to Puja Khedkar, her father Dilip, and her mother Manorama, rendering them unconscious. The accused is said to have then tied them up, taken their mobile phones, and fled with some valuables. Khedkar claims she later regained consciousness, freed herself, and used another phone to alert the authorities.
The police have confirmed that a preliminary probe has been initiated based on Khedkar's telephonic complaint. However, no formal written FIR has been lodged yet, and the complainant has not provided a detailed list of the stolen items. Officers are currently verifying the sequence of events and collecting evidence from the residence.

The incident comes at a time when Puja Khedkar is already facing multiple legal challenges. Last year, she and her husband were accused in a road rage case involving the abduction of a truck driver in Navi Mumbai. Additionally, she has been sacked from the IAS after being found guilty of misrepresenting facts in her 2022 UPSC application to avail reservation benefits.
Investigators are now focusing on locating the missing house help and examining any available CCTV footage or forensic evidence from the scene. The police have described the case as sensitive, given Khedkar's high-profile status and the ongoing controversies surrounding her. The outcome of the probe could have significant implications amid her existing legal battles.
