In a landmark moment for Indian medical education, President Droupadi Murmu attended the first-ever convocation ceremony of AIIMS-Kalyani in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Wednesday.
The President, serving as the chief guest, was joined by several dignitaries including West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav, State Minister of Health Chandrima Bhattacharya, and Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shantanu Thakur.

The ceremony celebrated a historic milestone for the institution, marking the graduation of its inaugural MBBS batch, admitted in 2019, alongside scholars from the Post-Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC). In total, 48 MBBS students and nine PDCC candidates received their degrees, signifying the beginning of a new chapter for AIIMS-Kalyani as a premier medical institute.
