Goa has been granted ₹383.20 crore by the Centre from March 2017 to June 2025 to enhance its tourism infrastructure, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte announced in the state assembly on Thursday. Responding to BJP MLA Krishna Daji Salkar, Khaunte detailed the allocation for projects like a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj museum and iconic beach developments.
Key allocations include ₹97.65 crore for Coastal Circuit One, covering Sinquerim, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator, Morjim Keri, and Aguada Fort and Jail, and ₹99.35 crore for Coastal Circuit Two, enhancing Rua de Orem creek to Dona Paula and Benaulim. Under the PRASHAD scheme, ₹4.67 crore upgraded infrastructure around Old Goa’s Bom Jesus Basilica, home to St. Francis Xavier’s relics. Additionally, ₹4.14 crore under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 will develop Colva beach and Porvorim’s creek experience.
The Centre also provided ₹50 crore for the Unity Mall project at Chimbal village and ₹124 crore for iconic tourist centres. Proposed projects include a Town Square at Porvorim and a Shivaji Maharaj museum at Farmagudi, Ponda, to further enrich Goa’s tourism appeal.
