The University of Delhi has opened registration for the second phase of its PhD admissions for the 2025–26 academic session, inviting eligible candidates to apply through the university’s online portal. The registration process began on March 10 and will remain open until March 24, according to the official admission schedule released by the university.
The university said all applications for doctoral programmes must be submitted online through its dedicated PhD admission portal. Departments, colleges, and research centres affiliated with the university will admit candidates through this centralized system. Applicants are advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria and guidelines outlined in the PhD Bulletin of Information 2025–26 before submitting their applications.
PhD programmes are offered across multiple faculties at the university, including Arts, Applied Social Sciences and Humanities, Education, Commerce and Business Studies, Mathematical Sciences, Law, Sciences, and Social Sciences, among others. Each department has specified research areas, seat availability, and additional requirements that candidates must check while applying for a particular programme.

According to the admission notification, candidates will be shortlisted based on the criteria set by the university and respective departments. Scores from NET, CSIR, or other national-level eligibility examinations conducted in June 2025 and December 2025 will be considered for admission during this phase. The university said the admission process will follow its existing ordinances and regulations governing doctoral programmes.
The application fee for PhD registration has been set at ₹750 per programme for candidates belonging to the UR, EWS, and OBC-NCL categories, while SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are required to pay ₹300 per programme. The fee is non-refundable and must be paid separately for each PhD programme selected by the applicant during the registration process.
Following the closure of registrations on March 24, departments and centres will conduct in-person interviews between March 27 and April 18. Recommendations by the Departmental Research Committees and Board of Research Studies are expected by April 22, while the last date for fee payment for selected candidates is April 26, completing the admission cycle for Phase II of the doctoral programmes.
