A Jersey cow, fleeing from stray dogs, sparked chaos in Pune’s Ravivar Peth when it bolted up a narrow wooden staircase to the third floor of Pardeshi Wada, a traditional building, around 6 am on Friday.
The unexpected intrusion startled residents, who were awakened by the commotion, a fire official reported.
Unable to coax the cow down the cramped staircase, locals summoned the Pune Fire Brigade. “The cow was stuck, and the staircase was too narrow for a safe descent,” the official explained.

After assessing the situation, the fire brigade deployed a crane and safety belts to execute a delicate rescue operation, successfully lowering the bovine to the ground without injury.
The incident, reported by various news agencies, highlights the challenges posed by stray dogs in urban areas, often driving animals into perilous situations.
The fire brigade’s swift action ensured a safe resolution, leaving residents relieved and the cow unharmed.
