Dense fog enveloped Gurugram on the morning of December 15, 2025, severely reducing visibility to below 50 metres in several areas and triggering three road accidents across major thoroughfares. While no fatalities or serious injuries were reported, the conditions caused extensive traffic snarls, slow vehicle movement, and delays for commuters, including those heading to Delhi airport. Schools issued advisories about postponed bus timings, urging caution amid the hazardous weather.
The incidents began around 7 a.m. on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), where driver Rajesh Kumar, en route to the airport from Sector 102, rear-ended another car due to limited sightlines. A second collision occurred on Golf Course Extension Road, involving commuter Shveta Kaul from Sector 86, whose vehicle was struck from behind by a cab. The third accident took place on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Motorway, where a truck rammed a stationary vehicle.
Major congestion built up on key routes such as the Delhi-Gurugram Motorway, Dwarka Motorway, Golf Course Road, and Sohna Road, with delays stretching up to an hour. Commuters described vehicles "crawling" through the haze, heightening risks on high-speed corridors.

Gurugram traffic police responded swiftly by deploying teams at critical junctions, including Signature Tower, IFFCO Chowk, Cyber City, Rajiv Chowk, and Shankar Chowk. Patrolling units monitored motorways, enforcing safe distances and guiding motorists. DCP Traffic Rajesh Mohan stated that authorities had anticipated the fog and were prepared with proactive measures.
The fog aligns with seasonal patterns in the National Capital Region during winter, often exacerbated by low winds and cooling temperatures trapping pollutants and moisture. Similar disruptions have been reported elsewhere, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance.
As visibility gradually improved later in the day, officials advised drivers to use fog lights, maintain low speeds, and avoid sudden manoeuvres to prevent further incidents in the ongoing cold spell.
