A fatal road accident in Pune claimed the life of a motorcyclist after a cement mixer truck overturned and crushed his vehicle near the Navale Bridge area on Tuesday. The incident occurred opposite Pulse Hospital in Narhe, under the jurisdiction of the Narhe police station, and has once again raised concerns over road safety at one of the city’s busiest and accident-prone stretches.
According to police officials, the accident took place when a cement mixer truck travelling from Katraj towards Bavdhan lost control while negotiating a turn near Navale Chowk. The heavy vehicle overturned suddenly and fell onto a motorcycle that was also moving in the same direction, trapping and fatally injuring the rider beneath the truck.
The motorcyclist was declared dead on the spot due to the severity of the impact. Police identified the deceased as Gorakh Laxman Ransure. Officials said the victim was unable to escape the collision as the truck toppled directly onto his vehicle, leaving no chance for survival.

The driver of the cement mixer sustained head injuries in the accident and was shifted for medical treatment. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the truck losing balance, but preliminary observations suggest the vehicle may have overturned while taking a sharp turn on the busy highway section.
An officer from Narhe police station said the accident occurred in a high-traffic zone that frequently witnesses heavy vehicles and two-wheelers sharing narrow stretches of road. The area near Navale Bridge has been identified in multiple past reports as a black spot for road accidents, often due to congestion, overspeeding and heavy vehicle movement.
Police have initiated further investigation into the incident, including examination of the vehicle condition and driver statements. Officials are also expected to review whether road design, speed control measures or driver error contributed to the fatal crash as part of the ongoing inquiry into the case.
