Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a series of “special economic packages” on Saturday to attract investors and boost industrial growth in the state, aiming to create jobs for one crore youths over the next five years. In a post on X, Kumar outlined incentives designed to encourage entrepreneurs to set up industries, emphasizing employment generation and self-reliance.
“Our government is encouraging those setting up industries and pursuing self-employment by providing various facilities,” Kumar stated. “Entrepreneurs setting up industries in Bihar will be given a special economic package.” The incentives, effective for projects launched within the next six months, include doubling capital subsidies, interest subsidies, and GST benefits. Additionally, land will be provided across all districts, with industries creating significant employment eligible for free land allocation. Land disputes will be resolved on priority to streamline the process.
Kumar highlighted the state’s commitment to fostering a robust industrial ecosystem, with a detailed notification to be issued soon. The initiative builds on the success of the Seven Resolves-2 program, which delivered jobs and employment to 50 lakh youths in 2020. “Our target now is to provide jobs to 1 crore youths in the next five years, ensuring Bihar’s youth become skilled, self-reliant, and secure,” he added.
