Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is set to visit flood-devastated Punjab on Thursday to assess the catastrophic situation and bolster relief efforts, the party announced. Accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal will tour the worst-hit areas, meet with affected residents, and review ongoing relief operations in a state grappling with its most severe floods in decades.
Punjab is reeling from unprecedented flooding caused by the overflowing Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, swollen by relentless rainfall in their catchment areas in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The deluge has claimed at least 30 lives and impacted over 3.5 lakh people, with all 23 districts now declared flood-affected, according to a state government bulletin. Initially, 12 districts bore the brunt, but the crisis has since engulfed the entire state, leaving homes, crops, and infrastructure in ruins.
In a show of solidarity, Kejriwal revealed that AAP’s Delhi unit president, Saurabh Bharadwaj, is already en route to Punjab with truckloads of relief supplies. “Every day, AAP leaders, MLAs, MPs, and ordinary citizens from Delhi will deliver aid to Punjab and serve those in need,” Kejriwal said, emphasizing the party’s commitment to the crisis. He highlighted that resident welfare associations (RWAs) and traders are also pitching in, while support is pouring in from across India. “Today, the entire nation stands with Punjab,” he declared.

Further demonstrating AAP’s resolve, Kejriwal announced on Tuesday that all party MLAs and MPs would donate one month’s salary to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to provide immediate assistance to flood victims. The initiative aims to support the state’s efforts to rebuild and rehabilitate affected communities.
The floods, described as Punjab’s worst in living memory, have left a trail of destruction, submerging villages, destroying crops, and displacing thousands. The state government is working round-the-clock to provide food, shelter, and medical aid, but the scale of the disaster has overwhelmed local resources. Kejriwal’s visit is expected to draw national attention to the crisis and galvanize further support for Punjab’s recovery.
As the state battles this unprecedented calamity, Kejriwal’s hands-on approach underscores AAP’s focus on public service and solidarity. The visit will likely include discussions with local officials to ensure relief reaches the most vulnerable and to plan long-term rehabilitation measures for the flood-ravaged region.
