Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh launched a sharp attack on a group of party MPs on Friday after reports emerged that several AAP Rajya Sabha members, including Raghav Chadha, were set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Singh termed the move a “betrayal” and urged people in Punjab to remember the names of the leaders involved.
Singh alleged that the AAP had invested significant trust in Raghav Chadha, making him both an MLA and a Member of Parliament. However, he claimed that Chadha and others had now aligned themselves with the BJP. He further accused the BJP of undermining the functioning of the AAP-led government in Punjab under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The AAP leader said that such developments amounted to obstruction of the “good work” being carried out by the Punjab government. He stated that the alleged defection of seven Rajya Sabha MPs to the BJP was a serious setback and insisted that voters would not forget those who switched sides. Singh used strong language, describing the leaders as “traitors” during his remarks.

The controversy comes amid reports that a group of seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs may join the BJP. Along with Raghav Chadha, the names being discussed include Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Rajinder Gupta, and Vikram Sahni. The development has triggered political tension between the two parties. AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also reacted, stating that the BJP had once again “shaken” the people of Punjab. The party’s internal reshuffle had already seen Chadha removed from his position as deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha earlier, with Ashok Mittal replacing him.
While Chadha has been a prominent youth face of AAP and a regular presence in public debates, recent months saw speculation over his political stance amid silence on certain party-related controversies. The latest developments have intensified political debate, with both parties trading sharp accusations over loyalty, governance, and defections.
