More than 33.84 lakh voters in Haryana have been classified as unverified following the conclusion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, raising the possibility that they could be excluded from the state's draft voter list. The Election Commission of India had extended the deadline for digitising enumeration forms by 10 days until July 24. According to official data, 33.84 lakh of the state's 2.07 crore registered electors, or 16.38 per cent, remain unverified and may face deletion, subject to the statutory claims and objections process.

Among Haryana's 23 districts, Gurugram recorded the highest proportion of unverified electors, with nearly one in every three registered voters falling into categories such as absent, permanently shifted, deceased, duplicate, or enrolled elsewhere. Out of 15.55 lakh electors in the district, enumeration forms were digitised for 11 lakh voters, leaving 4.55 lakh electors, or 29.27 per cent, likely to be excluded from the draft roll. Officials attributed part of the challenge to restricted access for Block Level Officers (BLOs) in gated residential complexes and condominiums across the rapidly expanding city.

Faridabad, another National Capital Region (NCR) district, recorded the second-highest proportion of unverified voters. Enumeration forms were collected for 13.71 lakh of its 18.90 lakh registered electors, leaving 5.18 lakh voters, or 27.43 per cent, unverified. Combined, Gurugram and Faridabad account for nearly 9.7 lakh electors who could be removed from the revised electoral rolls if the current trend continues. The Election Commission, however, has clarified that these figures are provisional and that no final deletions will take place until objections and claims are examined.

The trend of higher numbers of unverified electors was also evident in other urban districts. Panchkula reported 99,977 unverified voters, representing 23.29 per cent of its electorate, followed by Sonepat with 2.37 lakh (19.38 per cent), Panipat with 1.82 lakh (18.86 per cent), Rohtak with 1.60 lakh (18.76 per cent), Jhajjar with 1.47 lakh (18.04 per cent), Ambala with 1.53 lakh (17.24 per cent), and Karnal with 2.11 lakh (17.20 per cent). In contrast, the Muslim-majority Nuh district recorded a comparatively lower figure, with 71,102 unverified electors, or 10.78 per cent of its registered voters.

Overall, enumeration forms have been digitised for 1.73 crore electors, covering 83.61 per cent of Haryana's electorate. The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on July 31, after which voters will have until August 30 to file claims and objections. Election officials will dispose of all claims by September 28 before publishing the final electoral roll on October 3. Rural districts recorded significantly lower proportions of unverified voters, with Fatehabad reporting the lowest at 7.12 per cent, followed by Mahendergarh, Charkhi Dadri, Sirsa and Bhiwani, reflecting comparatively lower population movement than the state's urban and industrial centres.
