The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, with more than 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH, and allied courses. Nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for the examination, with the highest score recorded at 715 out of 720. Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana jointly secured the top position, while no candidate managed to achieve a perfect score of 720 this year.
According to the NTA's score distribution data, 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, while 17 candidates secured scores above 705 marks. These top-performing candidates came from eight states, including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. The results highlighted strong performances from students across different regions, with the highest ranks reflecting a diverse geographical spread among medical aspirants.
The examination results showed that overall performance remained competitive, with 138 candidates scoring 690 marks or above across 66 cities in the country. A total of 1,492 candidates secured 650 marks or higher, while 10,160 candidates scored above 600 marks. The number of candidates achieving scores above 500 marks stood at 90,780, indicating a large pool of students competing for medical seats through the national-level entrance examination.

Female candidates continued to demonstrate strong performance in NEET UG 2026, with women accounting for more than 58 percent of all qualified candidates. The qualification rate among female aspirants was recorded at 56.8 percent, slightly higher than the 55.1 percent qualification rate among male candidates. The trend reflects the increasing participation and success of women in medical entrance examinations across the country.
With the declaration of results, the medical admission counselling process is expected to begin as per schedule. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct counselling for 15 percent All India Quota seats in MBBS and BDS programmes, while state authorities will manage counselling for state quota seats. The NTA has advised candidates to rely only on official counselling platforms, including NEET's official website, MCC portal, and respective state counselling websites, for verified updates regarding admissions.
