Two Indian students were killed and another injured in a devastating house fire in South London’s Croydon area earlier this week, officials confirmed. The incident occurred on February 23 at a rented residential property, prompting an emergency response from local fire and medical teams.
The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Kamineni Sai Srikar from Nizamabad, Telangana, and 28-year-old Ganti Abhishek from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. A third student who was living in the same house sustained injuries in the blaze and is currently undergoing treatment at Croydon University Hospital. Authorities have not yet disclosed the condition of the injured student.
According to initial reports, all three occupants were rushed to the hospital following the fire, but the two victims could not be saved. Local authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details about the sequence of events have not yet been officially released.

The Indian Consulate in the United Kingdom has expressed condolences and assured full support to the affected families. Officials said they are assisting with necessary formalities and arrangements for the repatriation of the deceased students’ mortal remains to India.
