US President Donald Trump has reiterated his claim that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in resolving international conflicts, arguing that he should have received eight awards rather than none. In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump criticised the decision to award the prize to South African jurist Navi Pillay and claimed that his contributions to peace efforts had not received adequate recognition. He specifically highlighted the India-Pakistan conflict, arguing that his alleged role in easing tensions between the two countries alone would have been sufficient to justify the honour.
Trump said he had helped settle eight conflicts and argued that each could have qualified him for the award. Listing the disputes, he named Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Israel and Hamas. “In actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1,” he wrote. He also claimed that presidents and prime ministers from countries involved in these conflicts had sent letters supporting his nomination to the Norwegian Nobel Committee. These assertions reflected Trump's own account of his diplomatic record, rather than independently established findings that he had resolved every conflict listed.
The US president also said he was working to settle two additional conflicts, referring to tensions involving Iran and Russia's war against Ukraine. He described both efforts as progressing rapidly. In his post, Trump questioned why the Nobel Peace Prize had gone to Pillay, whom he characterised as a liberal associated with the United Nations. He claimed that he knew little about her and alleged that she was hostile towards Israel. Trump also criticised the United Nations, saying the organisation had not helped him in the conflicts he claimed to have settled. He argued that the United States, represented by him as president, should have received the recognition instead.

Trump described the Nobel committee's decision as an “indelible stain on Norway” and alleged that it had damaged the prize's credibility. He concluded his criticism by accusing those responsible for the decision of being political ideologues opposed to democracy. His comments reflected his continuing frustration over not receiving the award and his belief that his diplomatic efforts deserved greater recognition.
Beyond the eight conflicts he listed, Trump claimed credit for several other international initiatives. He said he had prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and from destroying Israel, while also claiming to have helped secure the return of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. He referred to the release of the final 28 hostages, both living and dead, and credited his efforts with helping bring about their return. Trump also said he was working to prevent potential conflicts involving North Korea and South Korea, Japan and North Korea, as well as tensions between China and Taiwan. These claims formed part of his broader argument that his administration had contributed significantly to international security.
Trump further credited himself with persuading NATO members to increase their defence spending targets from 2% to 5% of gross domestic product, arguing that the change strengthened the alliance. He also claimed to have helped secure the release of more than 900 political prisoners from several Eastern European countries and brought 196 hostages home from captivity around the world without paying a ransom. The statements added to his list of achievements that he believes should have been recognised by the Nobel committee. However, his post presented these accomplishments from his own perspective, with the claims and their significance not independently established by the account provided.
