Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar died of a massive heart attack caused by a blood clot blocking the left main coronary artery, according to his final post-mortem report released on Sunday, October 11. Doctors at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bambolim confirmed that the blockage interrupted blood supply to a substantial portion of the heart, resulting in a fatal cardiac event. The report classified the death as natural, providing clarity on the medical cause of the actor’s sudden demise at the age of 75.
According to the post-mortem findings, Nana suffered from coronary artery disease, a condition in which the blood vessels supplying the heart become narrowed or blocked. The report attributed his death to an acute myocardial infarction resulting from a blood clot in the left main coronary artery. This artery supplies blood to a large portion of the heart, making a sudden blockage particularly serious. The findings were communicated by doctors at the state-run hospital, where a medical team conducted the examination following his death.
Nana was found unwell at his residence in Goa in the early hours of October 8. According to reports, he contacted a family friend after experiencing health problems, following which arrangements were made to take him to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula. Doctors declared him dead on arrival despite efforts to revive him. Medical personnel reportedly attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for around 45 minutes, but he could not be saved. His death had initially been attributed to cardiac arrest, although the specific medical cause was not immediately established.
