AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) is scheduled to travel to New Delhi on Thursday as critical seat-sharing negotiations between the AIADMK and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) enter their final phase ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The discussions are expected to focus on finalising the allocation of constituencies between the two alliance partners.
Sources said Palaniswami will depart Chennai around 10 a.m. to hold high-level talks with senior BJP leaders, including a likely meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Delhi visit is being seen as a decisive step toward establishing a mutually agreeable framework for the alliance, which remains unannounced officially.
With the Election Commission having declared the poll schedule, political activity across Tamil Nadu has intensified. Parties are working at a brisk pace to conclude alliance arrangements and move into full-scale campaigning. While the ruling DMK has already finalised seat-sharing with key allies such as the Congress and CPI, the AIADMK-BJP partnership is yet to disclose its formula, making the ongoing negotiations particularly significant.

Union Minister and BJP’s Tamil Nadu election in-charge, Piyush Goyal, is expected to visit Chennai later this week to resolve remaining differences, including the final allocation of constituencies and campaign coordination. Officials say his visit will complement Palaniswami’s discussions in Delhi, ensuring alignment between the state and central leadership.
Political analysts suggest that the outcome of Palaniswami’s meetings will play a critical role in shaping the electoral prospects of the AIADMK-BJP alliance. Both parties are under pressure to reach an agreement quickly, with limited time remaining before election campaigns intensify across the state.
All eyes are now on the national capital, where the results of these high-stakes discussions are expected to determine the final contours of the AIADMK-BJP alliance, potentially influencing the balance of power in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
