A shocking incident in Kanpur has left two 11-year-old twin girls dead, allegedly killed by their father, Shashi Ranjan Mishra, who has since been arrested. The crime took place at a residential apartment in the Naubasta area, where police responded to an early morning call around 4:30 AM and found the children lying in a pool of blood inside the house, while the accused was present at the scene. The brutality of the incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
According to officials, including Commissioner of Police Raghubir Lal, the exact motive behind the killings is still under investigation. However, preliminary findings suggest that the accused may have been dealing with severe mental health issues, including depression or a psychiatric condition. Investigators noted that Mishra appeared mentally disturbed, and his behaviour is being closely examined as part of the ongoing probe.
Police sources indicated that the accused, a former medical representative, had been unemployed for several years, which may have contributed to financial stress within the household. Authorities are exploring whether prolonged unemployment, combined with possible psychological distress, played a role in the tragic incident. Statements from family members and neighbours are also being recorded to piece together the circumstances leading up to the crime.
