Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian joined thousands of supporters on the streets of Tehran on Friday during the annual Quds Day rally, an event traditionally held to express solidarity with Palestinians. State television footage showed Pezeshkian walking through rain-soaked streets, greeting supporters and posing for selfies as crowds gathered for the demonstration. The rally, which typically features senior political and military leaders, took place amid heightened tensions in the region following ongoing hostilities involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
According to multiple reports, the atmosphere of the rally was disrupted when strikes reportedly carried out by the United States and Israel occurred in areas near the Iranian capital. Iranian media indicated that at least one woman was killed in the strikes, though details about the exact location and extent of the damage were still emerging at the time of reporting. The incident added to concerns about the escalating confrontation between Iran and its regional adversaries.
Speaking during the rally, President Pezeshkian criticised former US president Donald Trump, saying the American leader failed to understand the resilience and determination of the Iranian people. His remarks came as chants and banners condemning US and Israeli actions echoed through the crowd. Iranian leaders have repeatedly accused both countries of aggressive actions in the region, particularly amid the latest military escalation.

Quds Day, observed on the last Friday of Ramadan, was established in 1979 following Iran’s Islamic Revolution and has since become a major political demonstration in the country. Each year, the event draws large crowds across Iran and in some other parts of the world, with participants voicing support for the Palestinian cause and opposition to Israel. This year’s rally unfolded against the backdrop of growing geopolitical tensions, making it one of the most closely watched Quds Day gatherings in recent years.
