In a dramatic turn of events on Saturday, seven Indian migrant workers became overnight heroes after rescuing a woman whose car plunged into a sudden sinkhole on Tanjong Katong Road South in Singapore.
The quick-thinking workers – Pitchai Udaiyappan Subbiah, Velmurugan, Saravanan, Veerasekar, Ajithkumar, Chandrisekaran, and Rajendran – acted without hesitation, pulling the terrified driver to safety before emergency responders arrived.
In recognition of their bravery, Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) awarded each of them the prestigious "MOM Ace coin" — a token reserved for those who go above and beyond in service. The honor was presented personally by Minister of State for Manpower, Dinesh Vasu Dash, who visited the workers at their dormitory.

“This is a powerful example of how our migrant workers enrich our society—not just by building it, but by protecting it,” Dinesh said in a Facebook video.
He praised the group for their courage and compassion, calling it a "selfless act that made a huge difference."
The story has sparked widespread admiration online, highlighting the critical and often overlooked contributions of migrant workers in Singapore.
