Hyderabad's Cyber Crime Police arrested 39-year-old Kambeti Satya Murthy, a resident of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on charges of creating and distributing child sexual abuse content. Murthy operated the YouTube channel "Viral Hub," which boasted over 2.5 lakh subscribers and nearly 400 uploaded videos. His content targeted minors aged 15 to 17, disguised as interviews but laced with exploitation. The channel remains active pending takedown requests to Google.
In his videos, Murthy posed obscene and sexually explicit questions to underage interviewees, crossing into clear sexual exploitation. One particularly egregious clip showed him coercing two minor children to kiss on camera, violating child protection norms. These acts were not isolated; they formed a pattern designed to shock viewers and boost engagement. Technical forensic analysis by police confirmed the videos breached India's POCSO Act and IT Act provisions on cybercrimes.
The case originated in October 2025 when Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police registered a suo motu FIR after spotting the abusive videos circulating online. Digital footprints, including metadata and upload patterns, led investigators to Murthy's identity and location. Advanced cyber tracing tools pinpointed his Visakhapatnam residence within weeks. This proactive detection underscores growing vigilance against online child predation in India.

Murthy's descent into child exploitation began innocently enough in 2018 with interviews of social media influencers, using vulgar language to chase views and ad revenue. As subscriber counts grew, he shifted to minors, believing sensational content with vulnerable teens would skyrocket monetization. Police reports indicate this escalation netted him significant earnings before detection. His tactics exploited YouTube's algorithm for viral potential.
Following the arrest, authorities seized electronic devices from Murthy's home, uncovering additional unreleased material. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime wing, announced plans to petition Google for immediate channel suspension and content removal. Murthy faces charges under POCSO, IPC sections for child endangerment, and cyber laws, with potential life imprisonment. Further probes aim to identify other victims or accomplices.
This case highlights the dark underbelly of content creation platforms, where profit motives can fuel child abuse. Indian authorities are ramping up AI-driven monitoring of social media for similar violations. Victims' identities remain protected, with counseling support promised. The incident serves as a stark warning to creators: exploiting minors for clicks will invite swift justice.
