The Uttarakhand government has announced that it will temporarily remove the cap on the number of pilgrims for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, allowing devotees to undertake the pilgrimage without any restrictions during the initial phase. The decision has been taken in view of the state’s preparedness and its efforts to ensure smooth management of the large influx of pilgrims.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the move follows detailed review meetings with officials and stakeholders assessing preparations for the Char Dham pilgrimage, which includes Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. He said all departments have confirmed readiness to manage the expected flow of devotees safely and efficiently.
According to the Chief Minister, extensive arrangements have been made in key areas including road connectivity, drinking water supply, transport, healthcare facilities, disaster management systems, helicopter services, and cybersecurity measures. He emphasized that the administration’s priority is to ensure that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience during their journey.

Officials also reviewed the impact of recent snowfall in higher-altitude regions and confirmed that preparations have been adjusted accordingly. The administration has directed departments to complete all pending development work within fixed timelines to avoid any disruption during the pilgrimage season.
The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing central government support for infrastructure development in Uttarakhand, including the Char Dham all-weather road project and expansion of healthcare and helicopter services. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has maintained a strong connection with the state through several development initiatives and visits to key pilgrimage and border areas.
