In a jaw-dropping turn of events, a Delta Airlines co-pilot was dramatically arrested just minutes after landing a packed flight at San Francisco International Airport. The stunning takedown unfolded on Sunday at approximately 7:05 AM IST, leaving passengers and crew in disbelief.
Rustom Bhagwagar, 34, an Indian-origin co-pilot, was apprehended by a swarm of law enforcement officers from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department and Homeland Security Investigations. The agents stormed the cockpit of Delta Flight 2809, a Boeing 757-300 that had just arrived from Minneapolis, while passengers were still gathering their belongings.
Eyewitnesses reported a chaotic scene as nearly a dozen DHS agents, flashing badges and armed with guns, pushed through the aisle to detain Bhagwagar. "They moved fast, with vests and weapons, cuffing the co-pilot right there in the cockpit and escorting him off the plane," one stunned passenger told local media.

The arrest stems from a chilling investigation launched in April 2025 after reports surfaced of heinous sex crimes against a child. Authorities secured a Ramey arrest warrant for Bhagwagar, who now faces five counts of oral copulation with a child under 10. He is currently held at the Martinez Detention Facility with a staggering $5 million bail.
Delta Airlines swiftly responded, stating, "We are horrified by these allegations and have suspended the individual pending a full investigation. Delta has zero tolerance for illegal conduct and is cooperating fully with law enforcement."
The co-pilot’s colleague, unaware of the investigation, was blindsided by the arrest. Authorities deliberately kept the operation under wraps to prevent Bhagwagar from being tipped off and attempting to flee.
This shocking incident has raised questions about airline safety protocols and left passengers reeling as they witnessed the dramatic arrest unfold mid-deplaning.
