Ashutosh Brahmachari, the complainant in a POCSO case against Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, was allegedly attacked with a razor aboard the Rewa Express near Sirathu station on Sunday morning, police said. Brahmachari sustained minor injuries and was taken to Calvin Hospital in Prayagraj for medical evaluation.
According to a Government Railway Police (GRP) official, Brahmachari was heading to Prayagraj when he visited the train toilet and was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified person. CCTV footage from the coach is under examination, and authorities will take further action based on the investigation and medical reports.
Reacting to the incident from Varanasi, Swami Avimukteshwaranand questioned the claim, calling it “fabricated” and urging the railway administration to conduct a thorough inquiry. He said reports suggested the railway attendant found Brahmachari uninjured before the incident and later injured after returning from the toilet. “This appears to be a fabricated story created merely to build an atmosphere and obtain security,” the seer added. He emphasised that the railway authorities should clarify facts and insisted he does not condone physical violence.

The attack comes weeks after a FIR was lodged against Swami Avimukteshwaranand, his disciple Mukundanand Brahmachari, and two to three unidentified individuals over allegations of sexual abuse, including of a minor. The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, following a directive from the Special Judge (POCSO Act), Prayagraj, on February 21.
