A 19-year-old named Uday was arrested in Noida’s Sarfabad village for allegedly murdering his 43-year-old father, Gautam, by bludgeoning him with a brick during a property dispute, police said on Monday.
The chilling incident occurred on Saturday night when Uday, enraged over his father’s refusal to provide money for liquor and daily expenses, attacked Gautam while he slept on a cot. After the assault, Uday reportedly slept next to his father’s body through the night, according to Sector-113 Station House Officer Krishna Gopal Sharma.
The crime came to light on Sunday morning after Gautam’s brother filed a complaint, prompting police to investigate. Senior officers found Gautam’s body with severe head injuries at their Sector-73 residence. Uday confessed to the murder, citing tensions over family-owned land, which sustained the unemployed duo, both known alcoholics.
