Maharashtra reported two new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the state’s infection tally to 2,755 since January 2025, according to the state public health department. One case each was recorded in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, reflecting a low but persistent spread of the virus.
Since the start of the year, 44 patients have died from COVID-19, with 43 having comorbidities and one with another underlying condition. The health department noted that 45,057 tests have been conducted statewide since January 1, with 2,684 patients recovering so far.
Mumbai remains the epicenter, accounting for 1,106 cases in 2025, including 551 in June, 102 in July, and 12 in August to date. Health officials continue to monitor the situation, urging residents to maintain precautions like masking in crowded areas and seeking timely testing.
The low case numbers suggest effective containment, but experts warn against complacency, citing the virus’s history of unpredictable surges.
