A 25-year-old woman, allegedly seven months pregnant, was stabbed to death by her 28-year-old husband, Ravishankar, in a village in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, police reported on Sunday. The brutal incident occurred in Jatav Gate, where the couple, married in January 2025, had been facing marital discord.
According to Ganganagar Station House Officer Anup Singh, Sapna had been living with her sister for the past five months due to ongoing conflicts with Ravishankar. On Saturday morning, Ravishankar visited her sister’s home, luring Sapna into a private conversation. He then locked the door and attacked her with a knife, inflicting multiple fatal stab wounds. After the crime, Ravishankar called the police himself, confessing to the murder.
Circle Officer Shiv Pratap Singh noted that Sapna’s family claimed she was seven months pregnant, pending confirmation from the post-mortem report. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rakesh Kumar Mishra revealed that Ravishankar was enraged by Sapna’s frequent stays at her sister’s house and her interactions with her brother-in-law, which fueled his actions.
