Multiple private schools in Shimla received bomb threat emails on Wednesday morning, causing widespread panic among students and parents, police reported. The threats, later confirmed as hoaxes, prompted immediate action, with bomb disposal and dog squads conducting thorough searches across school premises. No explosives were found, and classes resumed after students were moved to safe locations.
Frantic parents rushed to schools, with many opting to take their children home. The Himachal Pradesh Police, led by ASP Navdeep Singh, are tracing the IP addresses of the emails, suspected to have been sent via VPNs, and are coordinating with other states like Uttar Pradesh, where two Agra schools faced similar threats today.
This marks the eighth hoax bomb threat in Himachal Pradesh since April, targeting institutions like the High Court, district courts, and state secretariat. Posts on X reflect public frustration, with users like @PrabhashRinkoo urging faster action to catch perpetrators to prevent desensitization to real threats. Authorities suspect a coordinated pattern, possibly linked to similar hoaxes in Delhi and Bengaluru, where over 100 schools were targeted recently.
