A daylight robbery at a State Bank of India branch in Nagpur's Bhande Plot Chowk was captured on CCTV, with a man allegedly throwing chilli powder at bank employees before fleeing with Rs 4.53 lakh in cash. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Sakkardara police station and triggered an immediate investigation by Nagpur police.

The accused, identified as 28-year-old Suraj Borker from Tatoli village in Bhivapur, reportedly entered the branch wearing an orange kurta, a white cloth covering his face and carrying a green cloth bag. He allegedly used chilli powder to disorient the employees and prevent them from intervening as he moved through the bank.

According to the CCTV footage described in the report, the man chased employees inside the branch while throwing chilli powder at them. As staff members moved away from the attack, the accused reportedly climbed over a counter into an open cabin and began collecting cash. Some employees attempted to pursue him as he left the branch with the stolen money.

Police launched a search operation soon after the robbery and examined CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas to trace the accused's movements. Their investigation led to Borker's arrest within a few hours of the incident. Police are now questioning him as part of their investigation into the robbery.

Investigators said Borker had studied up to a BSc degree and was facing financial difficulties after suffering significant losses in the stock market. Police are examining whether the financial strain was a factor in the alleged robbery and are also looking into his movements before and after the incident.

The Sakkardara police are continuing their investigation to establish whether Borker acted alone or had assistance from others in planning or carrying out the crime. Further questioning is expected to help investigators determine how the robbery was planned and whether any additional people were involved.
