In a tragic incident in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, two pedestrians lost their lives when a speeding SUV, driven by a policeman’s son, plowed into them during a reckless race with a friend. The horrific crash, captured on CCTV, occurred around 4 pm in the crowded Kaliyabeed area, leaving a trail of devastation.
Harshraj Singh Gohil, 20, son of Assistant Sub Inspector Aniruddha Singh Vajubha Gohil, was behind the wheel of a white Creta, racing a friend in a red Brezza. Authorities report Harshraj was driving at a staggering 120-150 km/h when he lost control, striking pedestrians Bhargav Bhatt, 30, and Champaben Vachani, 65. Both victims died instantly. Bhatt, recently married and employed at Madhu Silica, was reportedly heading to work.
The SUV also collided with a scooter, injuring its two riders and bursting the vehicle’s tires. Several other vehicles were damaged in the chaos. The injured were rushed to Sir T Hospital for treatment.

CCTV footage revealed the Creta’s high-speed rampage before it skidded and crashed. Harshraj, known for his love of driving and occasional street racing, was detained by police. His father, a Local Crime Branch officer, arrived at the scene, assaulted his son, and turned him over to Nilambag police. While interrogation is underway, Harshraj has not been formally arrested, though sources indicate an arrest may occur around 6 pm today.
The incident has sparked outrage, raising questions about reckless driving and accountability in Gujarat’s streets.
