A violent incident at Sri Tika Ram Kanya Mahavidyalaya in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, left an undergraduate student injured after unidentified attackers stabbed her on campus Monday, triggering widespread protests. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed by police and college authorities, sustained stab wounds while at the college’s NCC complex and managed to contact her family before collapsing. She was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, where she is stable but unable to provide further details due to her condition, hospital officials confirmed.
The attack sparked outrage, with a large crowd gathering outside the college gate on Ramghat Road, under Kuwarsi police station limits, blocking traffic and demanding the culprits’ arrest. Protesters insisted that CCTV footage from the campus could identify the attackers. Senior police officials, led by Circle Officer Sarwam Singh, intervened to calm the situation, restoring normalcy after negotiations.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons based on a complaint from the victim’s family, Singh told reporters. “CCTV footage is being thoroughly examined, and we expect a breakthrough soon,” he said, adding that security around the college has been strengthened. College official Pratima Shrivastava noted the administration was alerted promptly but provided no further details on the attackers or motive.
