Delhi Police dismantled a sophisticated Mumbai-based online casino racket, arresting nine individuals, including the mastermind, Bhuvender alias Bhupender (48), in a raid on September 5, 2025.
The operation, conducted near DDA Market in Sultanpuri, Outer Delhi, followed a tip-off about illegal online gambling activities. The syndicate lured victims through suspicious links, QR codes, and OTPs, exploiting unauthorized apps to facilitate casino-style betting. During the raid, police apprehended Bhuvender, Suraj (26), Mayank (20), Rahul (26), Rohan (23), Rajender Gupta (40), Dharamvir (33), Dilshad Ahmed (33), and Rajesh Gupta (32) while they were engaged in online gambling.
The suspects attempted to flee but were subdued. Authorities seized Rs 85,320 in cash, six computer systems, and gambling paraphernalia. Bhuvender, the kingpin, has a history of five prior cases under the Delhi Public Gambling Act, police said. The racket operated by circulating download links for unauthorized apps hosted outside official app stores, shared via messaging platforms.

Victims were prompted to scan QR codes, install the app, and enter an OTP to access the gambling platform, where they purchased points with real money. The operators ran the app for 2-3 months before deactivating it and issuing new links to evade detection, perpetuating the scam.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sachin Sharma stated that a case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing to uncover additional links to the network. The bust highlights the growing challenge of illegal online gambling in India, where such activities are banned except in regulated regions like Sikkim, Goa, and Daman.
