Malayalam Actor Shine Tom Chacko has been arrested by the Ernakulam North Police after a case was registered under sections 27 and 29(1) of the NDPS Act, the offence under 29(1) being of non-bailable nature. 

Shine faces charges that could range from six months to one year. Chacko will soon be subjected to a medical examination. 

CCTV footage had showed the actor jumping from a third-floor window onto the second floor, navigating through the swimming pool area, and escaping via a staircase. Despite a thorough search of his room, no narcotics were recovered.

As per media reports, the controversial actor presented himself to the Ernakulam North Police Station this morning, where he had been summoned for questioning. He came to the station with his team of lawyers, and he was grilled by a team of cops led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The interrogation reportedly focused on the circumstances surrounding his escape and his presence at the hotel during the raid. The police have also collected his call records and reviewed CCTV footage as part of their investigation. A medical examination is expected to determine whether the actor was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.

Adding to the controversy and context to the whole shenanigans is the fact actress Vincy Aloshious has accused Shine of inappropriate behaviour on the sets of their upcoming film Soothravakyam. In a formal complaint to the Kerala Film Chamber and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), she alleged that Shine exhibited erratic behaviour under the influence of drugs, making her and a female colleague uncomfortable. While Vincy has not filed a police complaint, her allegations have reignited discussions about substance abuse in Mollywood.
