Multiple government offices across Karnataka have been targeted by a series of anonymous bomb threat emails in recent days, triggering widespread security alerts, evacuations of staff and visitors, and deployment of specialized response teams in affected districts. These incidents have disrupted normal administrative functions, causing temporary halts in public services while authorities prioritize safety measures in response to the perceived risks.
On Monday, threatening emails were received at the Regional Transport Office in Mangaluru and the Deputy Commissioner's office in Gadag, with similar alerts also reported in Hassan and other areas, prompting immediate mobilization of local police units to secure the premises and prevent any potential disruption to public services. The threats led to coordinated efforts across multiple districts, highlighting the rapid dissemination of such messages and the challenges faced by law enforcement in managing simultaneous alerts.
Security forces, including bomb detection and disposal squads equipped with advanced scanning devices and trained dog squads, conducted meticulous and exhaustive searches of the buildings, parking areas, and surrounding vicinities, ensuring adherence to stringent anti-terror protocols while minimizing public inconvenience. These operations involved systematic checks of all accessible spaces, reflecting the thoroughness required to rule out any genuine dangers in high-stakes situations.

After hours of intensive operations involving thorough inspections of every room, corridor, and external space, authorities declared all threats received on Monday as hoaxes, with no suspicious devices or materials discovered, allowing the offices to resume normal operations under continued vigilance. Despite the false alarms, the incidents underscored the importance of maintaining robust emergency response mechanisms to handle potential threats effectively.
The pattern continued on Tuesday when the Deputy Commissioner's office in Tumakuru received a comparable email threat, leading to swift evacuation of all officials and employees as a precautionary measure, followed by another comprehensive sweep by bomb disposal experts and canine units. This recurrence emphasized the ongoing nature of the threats and the sustained pressure on security resources across the state.
Law enforcement agencies across the state have launched coordinated investigations to trace the origins of these emails, suspecting a deliberate and orchestrated campaign aimed at sowing panic and disrupting administrative functions, with cyber experts analyzing digital footprints to identify and apprehend those responsible. The probes aim to uncover any patterns or motives behind the series of hoaxes, ensuring accountability and preventing future occurrences.
