In a daring morning heist, six men wearing police uniforms stormed the home of government school teacher Sanjeev Kumar in Telwa Bazaar under Simratala police station limits on Monday, making off with jewellery worth nearly Rs 15 lakh. The robbery took place at approximately 6:35 am while Kumar was alone at home. Armed with pistols and sticks, the impostors arrived in a car and claimed they were executing a warrant from the Chakai police station.

Upon opening the door, Kumar was overpowered as the gang forced entry and ransacked the house. They specifically targeted wedding jewellery belonging to his daughter and wife, which had been set aside for an upcoming marriage. Before fleeing, the robbers threatened to drag Kumar to the police station, leaving the family in shock and despair.

Local residents expressed outrage and fear, describing the incident as evidence of growing criminal boldness in broad daylight. Many gathered outside Kumar’s house demanding stronger police patrolling and immediate action, highlighting that such crimes continue unabated despite the formation of the new NDA government and Samrat Chaudhary’s appointment as Home Minister.

Simratala police reached the spot soon after the complaint was lodged and have begun an intensive investigation. CCTV footage from nearby cameras has captured clear visuals of the suspects’ vehicle, providing investigators with a vital lead. Station in-charge Dhananjay Kumar stated that raids are underway and expressed confidence in an early breakthrough.

The incident has intensified public criticism of law and order in Bihar, with villagers asserting that criminals now operate without fear. Similar impersonation robberies have been reported across the state in recent months, eroding trust in local security measures.

Authorities have assured the family of swift justice while appealing for calm, but the brazen nature of the crime has left Telwa Bazaar on edge, with residents calling for sustained police presence and stricter vigilance to restore confidence.
