The victim, the daughter of a migrant worker from West Bengal, went missing on the afternoon of January 5, prompting her father to file a complaint the next day. Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation into the case.
According to the complaint, the girl was last seen playing near her family’s makeshift home when a person, also a migrant worker from West Bengal living nearby, was noticed loitering in the vicinity. The father immediately suspected the individual after failing to locate his daughter despite searching the area extensively.
Police later discovered the girl’s body in a dry drain within the migrant colony at Pattandur Agrahara, confirming the worst fears of her family. Initial reports suggest that the child was strangled to death, and authorities have stated there were no signs of sexual assault. The motive behind the killing is currently under investigation.
