Gurugram Police launched ‘Operation Akraman’ on Sunday, April 6, 2025, targeting illegal activities across the district, resulting in 71 First Information Reports (FIRs) and the arrest of 118 individuals within 24 hours.
The operation, executed under the directives of Haryana’s Director General of Police, aimed to curb drug and liquor smuggling, nabbing 48 proclaimed offenders among the suspects.
A police spokesperson detailed that 214 teams, comprising 975 officers, conducted coordinated raids, seizing 1,013.5 bottles of country liquor, 150.25 bottles of English liquor, 98 beer bottles, 478 grams of ganja, 9 grams of MDMA, a CNG auto-rickshaw, a car, 10 iPhones, a laptop, and Rs 25,000 in cash. The sweep reflects a broader Haryana Police initiative to dismantle criminal networks, building on past Akraman drives that have netted hundreds of arrests since 2021.
The operation’s success underscores intensified law enforcement efforts ahead of key regional events, with police urging citizens to report crimes promptly. While the haul and arrests signal a robust crackdown, the scale of illicit trade uncovered hints at persistent challenges in Gurugram’s urban sprawl. Authorities vow to maintain pressure on offenders, blending surprise raids with community vigilance to restore order in a city often grappling with such underworld activities.
