IndiGo on Thursday announced that it will begin commercial flight operations from Noida International Airport from June 15, becoming the first airline to launch services from the newly developed greenfield airport. The move marks a major milestone for the airport project, which is expected to strengthen regional connectivity across the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh. The airline said it will initially connect the airport to more than 16 domestic destinations in phases as operations expand over the coming weeks.
In a statement, IndiGo said flight bookings for the new routes are being opened gradually through its official website, mobile application, and authorised travel partners. The airline stated that the launch of operations from Noida International Airport aligns with its broader strategy of improving connectivity across major metropolitan regions in India. The carrier added that the airport will play an important role in easing travel demand in the rapidly growing Delhi-NCR region while offering passengers another major aviation hub in northern India.
IndiGo Chief Strategy Officer Aloke Singh described the airport as a strategic addition to the NCR’s aviation infrastructure. He said the airport would serve as a key gateway for both Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh, regions that continue to witness rising passenger traffic and increasing demand for domestic air travel. Singh also noted that large metropolitan areas in India are increasingly developing multi-airport systems, adding that IndiGo will now operate from all three airports in the NCR — Indira Gandhi International Airport, Hindon Airport, and Noida International Airport.
The airline also released the initial schedule for operations from the airport. Services on the Lucknow–Noida, Noida–Bengaluru, Bengaluru–Noida, and Noida–Lucknow sectors are set to begin on June 15. Daily flights on the Noida–Hyderabad–Noida and Noida–Amritsar–Noida routes will also commence on the same day. Additional services connecting Noida with Bengaluru and Jammu are scheduled to begin from June 16 as the airline gradually expands its network from the airport.
From July 1, IndiGo plans to further increase connectivity by launching routes between Noida and several additional cities, including Srinagar, Jaipur, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bareilly, Kishangarh, Pantnagar, Jodhpur, and Navi Mumbai. The phased rollout is expected to significantly improve domestic connectivity for passengers travelling from western Uttar Pradesh and nearby regions. Industry observers believe the expanded route network could create greater convenience for travellers who currently rely heavily on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport for most domestic flight operations.
Noida International Airport is regarded as one of India’s largest greenfield airport projects and has been developed with integrated multi-modal connectivity along the Yamuna Expressway corridor. Supported by extensive road and rail infrastructure, the airport is expected to boost trade, tourism, and business opportunities across the region while reducing congestion at Delhi’s main airport. Aviation experts believe the development could transform regional air travel by improving accessibility and strengthening the broader transportation network across northern India.
