Iran allegedly planned to assassinate US President Donald Trump during his trip to Turkey for the NATO Summit in July, using a shoulder-launched missile to target Air Force One, according to a Reuters report.
The intelligence about the alleged plot was reportedly shared with the White House by Israel. The report cited US and other sources familiar with the matter, saying Israeli officials had warned Washington about potential Iranian attempts to kill Trump ahead of his visit to Ankara.
The alleged Turkey plot was reportedly among several assassination threats that Israel had communicated to the US over the past year. According to the report, the warnings included scenarios involving a sniper and another plot in which an attacker could be recruited to target Trump with a knife at a large public event.

The warnings reportedly began in the lead-up to the 12-day Israel-Iran war in June 2025 and became more urgent before the United States decided to enter the conflict with Iran in February, according to the Reuters report. The intelligence reportedly prompted heightened security precautions around Trump's international travel.
The most detailed warning concerned Trump's planned visit to Ankara for the NATO summit in July. Israeli officials allegedly told the White House that Iran could attempt to attack Trump while he was travelling aboard Air Force One, potentially using a shoulder-launched missile. The reported threat came amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Trump had previously confirmed that his aircraft was switched during the Turkey trip after recommendations from the Secret Service and military officials. A separate Washington Post report claimed Trump was secretly moved from the larger Boeing 747 to a smaller C-32A aircraft before continuing his journey to Britain. The reported assassination plot has not been publicly established as an attempted attack, and the claims remain based on intelligence cited by the reports.
